UMF and MGO Manuka Honey ratings compared
Trust the independent standard
The UMF™ mark that appears on Comvita honey is issued by an independent body set up to protect the integrity of Manuka honey – the UMF™ Honey Association of New Zealand (UMFHA).
Every batch of Comvita UMF™ Manuka honey is independently analysed and certified for quality, purity and authenticity by the UMF™ Honey Association.
As well as regular monitoring, the UMF™ Honey Association also conducts random sampling to ensure Manuka honey carrying the UMF™ mark is certified, true to label and can be trusted.
Three signature compounds measured
Only the UMF™ testing process measures all three signature compounds, Leptosperin, DHA and Methylglyoxal (MGO), that together indicate high quality, authentic Manuka honey – while other systems measure only one or two. This process gives you a much more comprehensive and assured view of what’s in your honey.
We cannot guarantee the accuracy of other systems of measurement, but here’s an approximate MGO vs UMF conversion guide:
> UMF™ 5+ MANUKA HONEY has a minimum MGO rating of 83, equal to a minimum UMF™ rating of 5.
> UMF™ 10+ MANUKA HONEY has a minimum MGO rating of 263, equal to a minimum UMF™ rating of 10.
